Brass

Trumpet

Range: F♯3 to C6

Bright, powerful sound. Common pitch tendencies: 1-3 valve combos sharp, specific slide adjustments needed.

French Horn

Range: F♯2 to C6

Rich, mellow tone. 6th partial tends sharp, 7th partial very flat. Hand position in bell crucial.

Trombone

Range: E2 to B♭4+

Full, resonant sound. Slide positions require constant micro-adjustments for perfect intonation.

Euphonium

Range: B♭1 to B♭4+

Warm, lyrical brass voice. Similar tendencies to trombone with valve combinations.

Tuba

Range: E1 to F4

Penetrating, expressive. Reed-dependent intonation, half-hole technique essential.

Bassoon

Alto Saxophone

Range: B♭3 to F6 (written)

Jazz and classical favorite. Low notes flat if underblown, middle C♯/D/E♭ tend sharp.
